A New and Vibrant China-
For
many people in the West, China conjures up images of rickshaws and
straw hats or blue Mao-suits and communes. In reality, since
former President Deng Xiao Ping launched economic reforms and began
the process of opening up to the world, China has gone through a
dramatic transformation. In fact, even now, every year that
passes sees more reform, development and openness. Nightclubs
are packed with young people dancing to techno, house, hip-hop, and
yes, good ol' fashioned rock and roll.

The
future continues to look bright with China hosting the 2008 Olympic
Summer Games and the 2010 Worlds Fair. Also on the horizon is
the completion of the worlds largest dam at Three Gorges, the worlds
tallest building, and the worlds largest suspension bridge.
All these modern wonders share the stage with some of the most
famous sites in world history: The Great Wall, the Terra Cotta
Warriors of Xian, the ancient Silk Road, the Ming Tombs, Summer
Palace, Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven.
